Against the backdrop of rising world prices.
In Poland, the government of Donald Tusk has decided to reduce the value-added tax (VAT) and excise tax on fuel due to rising global prices amid the war in the Middle East.
Tusk said this after a government meeting, RMF24 reports.
According to the Polish government's decision, the VAT rate on fuel will be reduced from 23% to 8%. In turn, the excise tax will be reduced to the minimum set by EU rules.
In addition, the government will set the maximum retail price of fuel on a daily basis to prevent unfair practices on the market.
These measures are aimed at easing the negative effects of the current situation on the oil and fuel market on citizens.
Tusk said that parliament should adopt legislative decisions on reducing fuel prices on Friday, March 27, so that they can be submitted to the president on the same day.
