Trump Extends Part Of Sanctions Against Russia For A Year

RF activities pose a threat to U.S. security and economy.

US President Donald Trump has extended for a year the sanctions against Russia, which were imposed due to interference in the US election, according to a notice on the website of the US Federal Register. The document will be officially published on March 27.

It is about the extension of the decree № 14024 from April 15, 2021. These sanctions were imposed by Trump's predecessor Joe Biden and have been repeatedly extended. The sanctions initially targeted Russian individuals and entities that U.S. authorities say may have been involved in interference in U.S. elections, as well as financial transactions to circumvent sanctions.

The notice states that Russia's activities "pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States." "For this reason, the state of emergency declared by Executive Order 14024 must remain in effect beyond April 15, 2026," the Federal Register website says.
