The lawsuit against the politician was supported by thousands of people.
Law enforcement authorities in Slovakia have opened a criminal case against Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, suspecting him of treason. This was announced by opposition politician Branislav Groling, quoted by Aktuality.
He noted that the basis for this was a statement by the SaS party, which Groling heads. According to the politician, it was supported by thousands of people.
"In addition to my SaS colleagues, more than 13,000 people have joined this criminal statement, making it the largest criminal statement in history," Grohling said.
He added that the case has already been handed over to the police for investigation. According to him, it is a matter of suspicion not only of treason, but also of abuse of power, crimes against humanity and even involvement in terrorism.
"I am convinced that Fitzo is suspected of committing serious crimes, so I appreciate that both the prosecutor's office and the police are acting on this issue and are not keeping it quiet," Grohling added.
He explained that the reason for the complaint against Fitzo is his activities in the field of energy security. In particular - it is about the termination of emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. He explained that the case became high-profile due to unprecedented public support.
Fitzo's pro-Russian statements
Fitzo previously said that Slovakia could join Hungary's veto on the allocation of 90 billion euros from the European Union to Ukraine. He also backed Orban and said that "Zielenski cannot lead the EU."
He also tried to justify Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, who, according to media reports, called Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov between EU meetings. He noted that everyone can call "whoever they want", but at the same time noted that he had seen no evidence of this.
