The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping. The public relations office said in a statement, TRT reported.

"Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and warned that ships that try to violate the ban will face a harsh response," the publication noted.

It said that the passage of all ships traveling to or leaving ports linked to the "Israeli-American alliance" is prohibited regardless of the route.

The IRGC said that in the morning, three container ships from different countries tried to pass the strait through the authorized corridors. However, they were forced to change course and return.

The IRGC also denied the US administration's claim that the Strait of Hormuz is open.

Summarizing, the IRGC said that anyone who tries to use the Strait in defiance of the ban will receive a "harsh response."
