Rubio: War With Iran Will Be Over In A Few Weeks

He said the U.S. is "already close" to achieving its goals.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken out on how long the war in Iran will last.

He said this after a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in France, Sky News.

Rubio told reporters that the U.S. expects the war in Iran "to be over in weeks, not months."

"We have goals, and we believe we are close to achieving them," he said.

The U.S. secretary of state noted that Iran could decide to impose a toll collection system in the Strait of Hormuz, but also noted that any permanent toll on that waterway would be "unacceptable."

Rubio was also asked about the possibility of a potential U.S. ground invasion of Iran.

"We can accomplish all of our goals with our ground troops. But we will always be prepared to give the president maximum latitude and maximum ability to adjust to contingencies if they arise," Rubio added.
