The Ukrainian military during the winter-spring counter-offensive in the southern direction managed to liberate about 460 square kilometers of territories.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
Answering a journalist's question regarding the advance of the Ukrainian military, the head of state named a new figure of liberated territories.
"We have regained 460 square kilometers since the beginning of the year," the Ukrainian president said.
The AFU's counter-offensive in the south
We would like to recall that in mid-February, the Russian Federation for the first time spread information about the alleged counter-offensive of the AFU on the border of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions. At the same time, the Southern Defense Forces clarified what the situation on this section of the front is really like.
Later, on February 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian military had de-occupied about 300 square kilometers of territory in the south.
In addition, on February 22, there was information about the active actions of the AFU Airborne Assault Troops in the Alexandrovsky direction. Their key goal is to prevent the Russian Federation's plans for further advancement within the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.
Also on February 23, the AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces during the offensive in the south liberated eight settlements and about 400 square kilometers of territory.
