Tehran's actual military capabilities remain limited.
The EU plans to launch a diplomatic initiative to supply Ukrainian drone interceptors to Middle Eastern countries amid the Iran war. Given that Russian Federation could help Iran strike U.S. bases, Ukraine's unique experience in intercepting Shaheds could be used to counter the attacks, top EU diplomat Kaya Kallas said, according to Radio Liberty.
At the bloc's annual ambassadors' conference on March 9, Kallas noted that Brussels is closely monitoring the actions of the Kremlin and Tehran. Kaya Kallas considers such a coalition expected and dangerous, because Russia passes intelligence to the Iranian regime. Iran itself is actively attacking the Persian Gulf countries with drones.
"In response to the need for drone interceptors, we are preparing a new initiative - to become a kind of 'mediator', which will combine the industrial capabilities of Ukraine with the military needs of the countries of the Middle East," Kallas said.
The EU plans to combine Ukrainian production capacities with the financial and defense needs of the Arab states. The diplomat is convinced that the Iranian regime is rapidly weakening. Despite Tehran's aggressive rhetoric, its actual military capabilities remain limited, but civilians in the region continue to suffer from attacks, Kallas said.
"That is why the EU continues to urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint, protect civilians and respect international law," the EU representative said.
