Zyanon Paznyak about threat of collaboration

After the Eastern Partnership summit in Prague the leader of the Conservative Christian party Belarusian Popular Front has come to certain conclusions.

He writes about his reflections in the letter to members of the Conservative Christian party Belarusian Popular Front.

“On May 7 in Prague at the summit of the European Union the Eastern Partnership program was adopted and rubberstamped,” Paznyak writes. “This even needs profound understanding”.

According to Zyanon Paznyak, “Eastern Partnership” is intended for cooperation of the European Union with the anti-Belarusian regime.

“The Eastern Partnership gives Belarusians a possibility of manoeuvre in case of increase escalation of political and economic pressure by Russia,” says the CCP-BPF leader. “The program envisages a possibility of involving the Belarusian society in the sphere of European Relations. However, the Eastern Partnership is programmed for cooperation with the anti-Belarusian regime. When investments from Europe and joint energy projects would start, all talks about democracy and human rights would end (they have already been finished in fact). The greatest threat for us is in regime’s having received carte blanch for total destruction of Belarusian culture and legitimization of their regime by the hands of Europe. The regime and Russia are interested in that (to impose illegal agreements with illegitimate Lukashenka into the legal framework). If that would happen, then the process of Belarusian economy’s division between the United Europe and Russia would start (or to be more precise, between the European capital and the Russian economic mafia).

Zyanon Paznyak warns the Belarusian opposition against lobbying Lukashenka’s regime in Europe, which is done by the leader of “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich.

“The example of Belarusian interaction in Prague before the summit has shown a possibility in principle to join anti-regime forces based upon the national interests,” Paznyak writes. “Meanwhile Prague observations, hearings and the subsequent analysis of statements and events make me think that the Eastern Partnership project has been taken seriously by the regime (at least in the short run), and Milinkevich consciously plays the lobbying role for this regime in Europe. Coordination of his actions with the policy of the regime does not admit of doubt. I think that it should be treated with attention, as lobbying, cooperation and collaboration between the well-known persons are to grow”.

Paznyak thinks that the oppositional forces today are to defend the Belarusian independence together.

“The national forces that are in opposition to the enemy regime should be fully supplied with programs on economy, in social, financial, legal, defence, ecology spheres, but they should unite on the grounds of care over defence of the state independence, in the aspiration for freedom and struggle for Belarusian culture’s preservation,” the politician said. “The aim of the struggle of the new Belarusian opposition should become a categorical imperative: Lukashenka is an illegitimate ruler and he must step down. (…) The new Belarusian opposition needs patriotism, and reliance on national values and the Belarusian nation. This time would be very hard, but it could become a pivotal one. Let’s face it with confidence and without bitterness or fear”.
