Baumgertner's house arrest extended for 2 months

Belarusian investigative bodies have extended the investigation of the criminal case against Uralkali CEO.

The information was spread by spokesman for the Belarusian Investigation Committee Pavel Traulka, Interfax news agency reports.

“The investigation of a criminal case against Baumgertner has been extended for two months. He remains under house arrest,” the representative of the Investigation Committee said.

Vladislav Baumgertner was detained at the airport in Minsk on August 26 after a meeting with Belarusian PM Mikhail Miasnikovich. The Investigation Committee charges him with violating part 3 of article 424 of the Criminal Code (abuse of power). Baumgertner may face up to 10 years in prison and confiscation of property.

Uralkali CEO was placed under house arrest on September 26, ahead of Putin's visit to Belarus.

On October 12, the InvestigativeCommittee of Russia received materials of Baumgertner's criminal case from Belarus and accepted them for investigation.
