Babrusjk plant workers on hunger strike near plant’s entrance

The sacked workers of the plant in Babrujsk continue their hunger strike of protest.

On November 5 at 10 a.m. Mikalai Zhybul, Aleh Shauchenka, Alyaksandr Varankin and Alyaksandr Hramyka started their hunger strike in the building of Babrusjk city executive committee, demanding to observe their constitutional right to labour. Two times they had to leave the building on request of policemen and officials.

Today four hunger-strikers continued their protest not far from the entrance control post of Babrusjk plant of tractor parts and units.

“We are staying near the plant. The management of the plant is stressed. Nothing interesting is happening at the moment. We are standing near the entrance control post. We entered it and left it again,” Mikalai Zhybul said to BelaPAN.

He also noted that the plant was visited by foreign guests on that day. “Many people from Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine arrived. It was a busy place. So they all are perturbed,” the participant of the hunger strike said.

Representatives of the plant’s management have not come out to the protesters. “It looks like they are going to ignore us. But we are observed all the time,” Zhybul said.

The participants of the hunger strike planned to spend the whole day near the plant.
