1

The Minsk city court dismissed supervisory appeal of opposition activist Uladzimir Syarheeu, involved in the Trial of 14.

As BelaPAN reminds, on April 22, Uladzimir Syarheeu was fined of 100 basic units on article 342.1 of the Criminal Code allegedly for “riot organising” during a rally of entrepreneurs on January 10, 2008.

After the Minsk city court left the judgement unchanged, and the young man filed a supervisory appeal to the presiding judge.

The answer to U. Syarheeu reads “your criminal guilt is proved,” though the convicted presented facts of numerous violations during the process, disagreement with militiamen’s evidence and real facts, unlawful use of doubtful video- and photomaterials as material evidence. “There are no grounds for vacating of judgement. The appeal is dismissed,” the answer reads.

For the protest rally Alyaksei Bondar, Artsyom Dubski, Mikhail Kryvau, Mikhail Pashkevich, Alyaksandr Straltsou, Alyaksandr Charnyshou, Tatsyana Tsishkevich, Mikhail Subach and Paval Vinahradau were sentenced to restraint of freedom for 2 years without sending them to penal facilities. Anton Koipish and Uladzimir Syarheeu were fined of 100 basic units. Minor Maksim Dashuk was sentenced to a year and a half of restraint of freedom, Andrei Kim got a year and a half in general regime penal colony over two articles: attack against a militia officer and participating in group actions, violating public order. A. Kim was pardoned by president on August 20.
