Franak Vyachorka's case could be studied by US Helsinki Commission

1

Belarusian expats in the US have addressed with a letter to Congressman Alcee Hastings, who is the chairman of the United States Helsinki Commission.

In the address to the politician it is said about the situation around the leader of “Moladz BNF” Franak Vyachorka, the website pbnf.org writes.

“We are convinced that You know that Belarus is the country where the regime denies human rights, falsifies election results and beats political activists. Alyaksandr Lukashenka likes to be called “father”, and he has been named “the last dictator of Europe”, the letter reads.

The address reminds that earlier the Belarusian regime often used the method of expelling politically active students from universities. And now, when such students have a possibility to continue studies in European countries, this method has become quite ineffective. The new method has been invented, to draft activists to the army forcibly.

“We are writing to attract You attention to one of the latest occasions. Recently the leader of the young organisation “Moladz BNF” Franak Vyachorka was beaten up by policemen in a hospital. After that he was taken to a military enlistment office of Savetski district of Minsk, where he was served a writ.

The matter is that Franak has several health conditions with which a person is considered as unfit for army service. His blood pressure reaches 210/110. Earlier he was certified as unfit for army service,” the members of the Belarusian community in the US write.

The letter includes a request for the US to get involved in the situation at the high level.

As we have informed, “Moladz BNF” leader Franak Vyachorka was forcibly placed to Minsk military hospital on January 8 and taken to the military enlistment office on January 16.

The leader of Salihorsk branch of the “Young Front” Ivan Shyla has been found fit for service. He was taken to the military enlistment office under guard, too.

Not long ago a young activist Ihar Salavei has been called-up.
