Polish Senate’s leadership concerns over Belarusian political prisoners

Anatol Lyabedzka, the head of the United Democratic Forces National Committee, and Zbigniew Romaszewski, the deputy marshal of Polish Senate, had a 1.5-hour meeting on November 15.

As Anatol Lyabedzka told the website ucpb.org, “a wide range of issues, from geopolitics to simplification of visa regime for the Belarusians, was discussed. I focused on risks and threats of the “controlled democracy” for Belarus and the Belarusians”.

Senator Romaszewski shared his experience in struggle for democracy and human rights in Poland and expressed his keen interest in Belarusian political prisoners – Mikalai Autukhovich, Uladzimir Asipenka, and Artsyom Dubski.

Zbigniew Romaszewski said that only free elections would “bring system changes to Belarus and open opportunities for cooperation of Belarus and democratic Europe”.
