Fans wished Glen Hanlon to return to Belarus when it is free from lie (Video)

Canadian Glen Hanlon, the former coach of the Belarusian national ice hockey team, gave his farewell press conference.

As Pressball newspaper writes, Hanlon, who resigned from a post of national ice hockey team coach on November 2, couldn’t refrain from tears. He thanked fans for their support and colleagues from the national ice hockey association and journalists for cooperation.

Glen Hanlon said he promised to say good bye in Russian when he would leave Belarus, but he didn’t expect it would happen so early. “If I forget this I’ll have a big trouble at home, from my wife – thank you. She feels the same as I. We love this country, and she has great friends here and has enjoyed her time here,” Hanlon said. He added 95% of his wife’s colleagues were Belarusian residents and she loved them. The former coach said his son would miss Logoisk, skiing there and Belarusian chocolate. Hanlon also thanked the media, thought never knew what had been written about him. Hanlon also added he knew how difficult it is for journalists to talk with the help of an interpreter.

The Canadian also thanked all fans. According to him, when he headed the Belarusian national team in 2005, he didn’t expect he could stay at this post more than two months. He said it had been only for the fans when he and his family had returned to Belarus again and again. He always tried to find something to answer to their passion, their love to hockey, to give them a reason to be proud of the national team. Hanlon said the fans would remain in his heart forever.

The Canadian said his family and he had travelled around Belarus, got into Belarusians traditions, loved national cuisine, got acquainted with great people. The family made friends there that will remain friends forever.

Glen Hanlon admitted it was difficult for him to part with the players. He thinks the tam has made a great job since 2005. The motto the team had for World Cup 2005 brought the results. The national team has the players able to replace veterans Alyaksandr Makrytski, Uladzimir Tsyplakou, Aleh Antanenka.

Hanlon said the players’ attitude to training and games had been changed. The players understand now that being a member of the national team is a great honour. The Canadian is proud to say the team raised its rank from 13th to 8th place. Glen Hanlon said the time came for him to step aside. He wished the players, fans and journalists good luck and said he would miss them.

When I read such articles like this one I feel I must say something. But I don’t have enough words. I’d like to say everything I think not at the forum, but to the people who’ve organized this outrage. If it hadn’t been for Glen and his work for our team, we wouldn’t have raised from 13th to 8th place and seen World Championship 2014. Kick them out! It’s really offending.

Great thanks to real MAN OF THE YEAR in Belarus and excellent coach Glen Hanlon!!! The fans will always remember him as a sensitive and honest man unlike hypocrites from the ice hockey association. We’ll look forward to results of Dinamo and the national team. If they defeat, it is the association headed by Navumau that must be fired, not coaches! I’m sick and tired of it!! The sward is over your head!
