Andrei Sannikov dubbed a knight in Navapolatsk (Video, photo)

On Friday a candidate for presidency Andrei Sannikov held meetings with voters of Vitsebsk and Navapolatsk.

In Vitsebsk more than 300 people gathered to talk to Sannikov, and in Navapolatsk – about 800, the press-service of “European Belarus” civil campaign reports.

In Vitsebsk Andrei Sannikov was given a hospitable welcome by young people in national costumes with bread and salt. The chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation, lieutenant general Myachyslau Hryb, a well-known economist, Candidate of economic sciences, associated professor Leanid Zlotnikau and General Valery Fralou were present at the meeting as well.

In Navapolatsk members of the local knight club dubbed him a knight and presented a sword created according to the example of the 12th century. Myachyslau Hryb and Leanid Zlotnikau answered questions as well.

Like in other cities, people coming to the meeting spoke about the abuse of power by local authorities and police, about rigging election results, about a huge debt of the state, about crackdown on small and medium business, the situation of unprotected groups of population.

Andrei Sannikov and his electioneering agents and people form the audience who spoke were often interrupted by applause. There was a very emotional speech of a woman, who told that the best Belarusian hockey school situated in Navapolatsk, which educated many outstanding hockey players, including Kostitsyn brothers, is not financed, while a real hysteria with construction of ice palaces is stirred in the country.

“It was a wonderful meeting. Polatsk and Navapolatsk met their candidate properly. The number of people in the assembly hall demonstrated that. Before that 3 candidates visited us, but even taken together they had not attracted such a number of voters.

Not only me, but all people were waiting for this meeting. It charges with energy powerfully, it is a momentum to defend one’s vote. I take part in pickets almost every day: first we collected signatures, and now we agitate. People ask what they should do on December 19 in case election results are rigged. Many people are ready to take part in protest rallies. All people know that the second round is inevitable. That’s the opinion of 70% of people. Lukashenka has also support of voters certainly. There are no more than 25% of such people. It is obvious when we talk to people, and people from leadership of city enterprises and executive committee we communicated with said the same, and notably, most of them say they support Sannikov,” told Sannikov’s electioneering agent in Navapolatsk Viktar Kalesnik.
