Spokesman for the Central Election Commission Pavel Lazavik said 7.2% of the voters had gone to polls during two days of the early voting.
According to him, the Vitsebsk region was the most active with a turnout of 11.4%. 5.9% of the voters went to polls in the Brest region, 6.1% - in the Homel region, 8.1% - in the Hrodna region, 6.3% - in the Minsk region, 8.2% - in the Mahilou region, 5.8% in Minsk, BelaPAN reports.
9% of the voters took part in early voting outside Belarus.
At the 2006 presidential election, the early voting turnout for the first two days was 6.1%.
We remind that the Belarusian voters are often forced to vote early. According to human rights activists, students, employees of state-run enterprises, soldiers are forced to early voting. The reason is that it’s easier to falsify early voting results.
