Democratic candidates for Belarus presidency will meet the electors at 20.00 in Oktyabrskaya (Kastrychnitskaya) Square.
A candidate for presidency, Andrei Sannikov appealed to the Belarusian citizens stating: «The Belarusians are a great nation. We aren't any worse than other European nations who managed to gain their freedom. Today we will prove it to the whole world. Together we are powerful. At 20.00 we will go to Oktyabrskaya Square in Minsk, defend our choice, our freedom and the right to live in a free European country!»
The United Civic party candidate Yaraslau Ramanchuk, when voting in Minsk confirmed that he would come to the Square on the 19th of December at 20.00. «This is our civiс position, the Square is the continuation if the presidency campaign, the continuation of the dialogue, we appeal to everybody for allowing no radicalism, no revolutions. That's our right to celebrate the beginning of new Belarus».
The BNF candidate, Rygor Kastuseu, expressed his hope that around 100 thousand people would join the protestation in the evening. The candidate hoped the democratic powers will win as a result of a peaceful protest action. He also believes that the action won't be a one-day event.
«Free election is not only free counting of the voices – although we don't have even that, — stressed BCD candidate, Vitaly Rymashevsky. — It's also an equal access to mass media for independent candidates. Moreover free election is an equal opportunity for election campaigning which we also haven't had. Two weeks ago we already could state that our election isn't free at all».
In the words of Rymashevsky this «provides all grounds for the Belarusian people to fight for the right to hold free elections, right for mass strikes». He claimed that «on the Square independent candidates are going to win».
In the words of a candidate for presidency, Uladzimir Niakliaeu, «For new election without Lukashenka» will be a new platform for uniting democratic powers after the election. This is going to be the motto with which people would go to the Square tonight.
BSDP (Narodnaya Gramada) leader Nikalai Statkevich stated that he wouldn't vote as the results are faked anyway. “We need to prepare for the Square”, - added Statkevich.
