MEP: If Lukashenka does not understand d language of European sanctions, he will understand language of sanctions

Ryszard Czarnecki, a Member of the European Parliament from Law and Justice party, Poland, offers to return black lists of Belarusian officials.

Ryszard Czarnecki offered to impose sanctions on Belarus. For instance, not to invite Belarusian “deputies” to the Parliamentary Assembly Euronest, and to restore black lists of Belarusian officials. As informed by the European Radio for Belarus, Ryszard Czarnecki stated that on February 24 at the mini-session of the European parliament on situation in Belarus.

“If Lukashenka does not understand the language of European values, he is sure to understand the language of sanctions,” the MEP stated. “I mean the sanctions which would not hit on Belarusian citizens, but would made things difficult for officials and politicians responsible for repressive actions”.

During the mini-session of the European Parliament Jacek Protasiewicz, the head of the EP delegation for relations with Belarus, also expressed his opinion on the situation in Belarus.

“I often hear from representatives of Belarusian authorities that Belarus has a right to choose the speed of reaching the international standards itself. Theoretically, we really cannot put pressure on an independent sovereign country… But the standards they are speaking about, for instance the OSCE standards, are not an internal matter,” Jacek Protasiewicz said.

We remind that on February 24 the European Parliament decided not to adopt resolution concerning crackdown on the Polish minority in Belarus, but to consider it in March.
