Grybauskaite invites Lukashenka to celebration of Independence Day

The news was reported by the TV channel Lietuvos ryto televizija with reference to the Lithuanian MFA.
It was reported that Lithuanian diplomats handed Alyaksandr Lukashenka an invitation of President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite to attend the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Lithuania’s independence on March 11.
Lukashenka hasn’t replied yet, but he is expected to give his answer on Monday, ru.DELFI.lt says.
Five presidents are expected to take part in the celebration on March 11 – Valdis Zatlers (Latvia), Toomas Hendrik Ilves (Estonia), Lech Kaczynsiki (Poland), Tarja Halonen (Finland), Danilo Turk (Slovenia).
Mihai Ghimpu, the had of the Parliament and acting president of Moldova, speaker of Georgian Paraliemnt David Bakradze, and speaker of Swedish Riksdag Per Westerberg are also invited to the celebration.
On March 11, 2010, Lithuania marks the twentieth anniversary since the Act on the Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania was adopted. Lithuania celebrates the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Durbe on July 13, 2010, and the 600th anniversary of Battle of Grunwald on July 15.
We remind that Lukashenka visited Vilnius in September 2009. International and Belarusian human rights organizations criticized the meeting between president of Lithuania and the last dictator of Europe, as the Belarusian oppositions suffers from harsh repressions, Belarus has political prisoners, freedom of speech is being suppressed, election results are being rigged.
