The Belarusians of Belgium held a picket of solidarity on May 5, ahead of delivering a sentence to political prisoners Mikalai Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka.

Activists of Belarusian European Association stood near the headquarters of the European Parliament and European Commission in Brussels handing round leaflets in French and English about the situation in Belarus, trial over political prisoners Mikalai Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka, Vitsebsk democratic activists Syarhei Kavalenka and Aleh Surhan, persecution of independent journalists Natallya Radzina, Iryna Khalip, Svyatlana Kalinkina, and Maryna Koktysh.

President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso came out to the picketers and took a leaflet. Representatives of other European institutions also showed their interest in the picket. The action was covered by journalists of foreign media.
