Andrei Sannikov registers an initiative group in CEC (Photo, video)

1,831 persons are on the list of the initiative group of “European Belarus” leader Andrei Sannikov.

The list of members of Andrei Sannikov’s initiative group with 1,831 members has been submitted to the Central Election Commission today. On Monday morning several hundreds of signatures will be submitted additionally.

Today Andrei Sannikov came to the CEC together with the first leader of the independent Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich, the head of the initiative group Uladzimir Kobets, a coordinator of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Zmitser Bandarenka, the head of Minks city branch of the Belarusian Popular Front Party Viktar Ivashkevich, youth leaders Yauhen Afnagel and Leanid Navitski.

The lists of Sannikov’s initiative group were received by two officials of the Central Election Commission. Workers of state-run TV Channels and “Sovetskaya Belorussia” newspaper had been invited to the office where it happened.

“Yesterday the premises where the work on verifying the lists of the initiative group were closely watched. But we will go on with our work. There are so many people who want to join the initiative group, that we will make an additional list. People call us, visit us, offer any assistance and support. Independently from the registration, no matter what the regime would do, we will participate in the political campaign for changing the regime in Belarus,” Andrei Sannikov said to journalists.
