Autumn aggravation: enemies are around

It took Lukashenka two weeks to understand what happened to his Libyan friend.

It’s only now when the Belarusian dictator found strength to comment on the events in Libya and present the conclusions he came to.

“We are under constant pressure. We are constantly rebuked of the lack of freedom of speech and pluralism. The aim of the West is evident: they want to unbalance the situation in Belarus, cut the country from active participation in international political processes, include the country into their sphere of influence,” Lukashenka said Friday at the Gozha firing range drawing up the results of the territorial defense exercise.

“Arab revolutions and elimination of Libya as an independent state are vivid examples of my words,” Lukashenka said.

“It was an aggression. The country’s leadership was killed, not only Muammar Gaddafi,” Interfax-Zapad quotes Lukashenka.

Lukashenka turned attention to armed conflicts in different parts of the world: “The last decades have seen unremitting attempts of the most developed countries of the West to gain total control over the natural resources of the planet. This policy has turned into a campaign to colonize less developed countries and entire regions.”

According to him, both military and non-military means are used. “International forums give place for he most important battles while a decision to attack yet another country is taken on the behind the scenes by a small group of interested persons,” Lukashenka said. “Information attacks, destabilization of situation, stirring up protest moods in people are compulsory elements. This is followed by special operations. In disguise of ‘popular’ revolt in collaboration with ‘the fifth column’, they complete the destruction of this or that country,” the dictator said.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs must prevent extremist activity. The interior minister must forget whether it’s decent or indecent and what will other think about us. We need to respond to any actions harshly. The main task is to secure order in the country in full compliance with the law and logic of our society development,” Lukashenka stated.

The head of state ordered the KGB chief to intensify analytical work and demonstrate concrete actions: “KGB analyzes too much, knows, reports. I expect concrete actions.”

Lukashenka does not rule out that “difficult times may come”. “Our task is to secure stability in towns, districts, at enterprises,” he said.

According to the dictator, “there are no emergencies now”. “But our task is to train ourselves and be prepared to repel any aggression. No one will attack us when people will be able to ensure their security,” Lukashenka said speaking about raising efficiency of the territorial defence.

He also emphasized the importance of ideology in the country: “Ideologists should not use patterns, but work systematically.” He said “There are many problems in this sector, so I expect not just proposals, but actions.”

Lukashenka stated there’s “a severe fight for our young generation”. “We can lose our youth,” he said adding that “it has not become the fertile ground for the fifth column”.
