Zmitser Bandarenka can become disabled person in prison

“Everything could end by a wheelchair,” said the wife of “European Belarus” coordinator, Volha Bandarenka after her visit to the remand prison.

We remind that the electioneering agent of the presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, a coordinator of “European Belarus” civil campaign Zmitser Bandarenka, was sentenced to 2 years of minimum-security colony for participation in the peaceful rally of December 19. The politician was transferred from the KGB remand prison to the remand prison in Valadarski street before his transfer to the colony. Volha Bandarenka met with him there, and she informed that as before, her husband has very serious health problems.

“Zmitser has hernias of intervertebral disks, 3 spinal nerve entrapments. He needs an operation urgently, otherwise he could become immobilized. All requests to provide specialized medical assistance of a neurologist to him were futile, both in the KGB jail and here. Zmitser’s foot is literally hanging immovably. This can result in a wheelchair,” Volha Bandarenka said to charter97.org website.

In spite of a catastrophic state of health, the politician does not loose fortitude. In his latest letter to his wife he has written:

“Certainly, everyone wants to be released, however, choosing between the past swamplike pre-election situation and what is happening now, I would leave the current dynamics. And I am sure, not only me. One can’t step into the same river twice, but also one cannot sit in a swamp for the rest of life. Belarusians who are crawling out of the swamp are a thrilling and frighteningly interesting sight, as while some are going up, others are sinking.

It is difficult when one is alone. But there are many of us, here and there, everywhere; Belarusians, Russians, Europeans, Atlanticists, Ukrainians. How could everything remain the same?! Let’s go ahead, through rough ways to the stars!”
