Statkevich and Klaskouski in information blockade

Letters from political prisoners, who have already been transferred to colonies, do not reach addressees.

Maryna Adamovich, the wife of 2010 presidential candidate Mikalai Sattkevich, says people have not received letters from him and Alyaksandr Klaskouski, placed in the same colony in Shklou, for a long time, Radio Racyja reports.

Maryna Adamovich thinks the situation became worse after the recent visit of Alyaksandr Lukashenka to the town:

“After the visit, the colony administration suddenly changed its attitude towards prisoners and information vacuum was created. I visited the colony and the deputy chief promised he would settle the issue with correspondence. Today is Thursday, but I have not received a letter or a phone call. I talked to the father of Alyaksandr Klaskouski. He said he does not receive any information. I will file complaints at the colony administration.”

Maryna Adamovich is preparing a complaint at the colony administration for violation of prisoner’s right of correspondence. She has filed a number of other complaints – at a refusal of meeting with Mikalai Statkevich and at disappearance of his passport. The passport was found in materials of the criminal case soon after the complaint.
