Andrei Sannikov left the penal colony in Navapolatsk on September 20, but is expected to arrive in the penal colony in Babruisk on Saturday evening, September 24, politician’s wife Iryna Khalip told the website charter97.org.

“The lawyer asked why the transportation takes such a long time. She was told that the route lies through Homel. No one can know what is happening to him during these days, where is he: in a prisoner car or in prison. He disappeared. I cannot regard this other than unveiled humiliating treatment of my husband. Firstly, article 72 of the Criminal Code says that “convicted persons serve their sentence in one penal colony; they can be transferred to another colony in exceptional cases, when further staying in the penal institution is impossible”. I can only guess about these “exceptional cases”.
