Tortured refugees defamed a Belarusian oppositionist (Video)

The Indians were beaten and starved in prison for two months.

At night on 15 May the Brest border guards detained eight citizens of India in a forest. The Indians tried to illegally cross the border to get to Poland, korrespondent.net reports.

The seekers for European happiness were crossing the forest without permission. They were kept in prison for two months. They beat them and didn’t feed. Such a treatment of the prisoners had a goal – the Indians were shown pictures of strangers and insistently suggested to “recognize” some people which allegedly helped them. In the end the convicts broke and “recognized” the people and pointed at the house were one of those “malefactors” lived.

On 1 September around 16.00 in the village of Tsiukhinichi near Brest some Vitali Koush was detained. He was detained in the courtyard of his relatives’ house by people in mufti, pushed into a car and taken to a unknown direction. Koush’s wife and child were present at the strange detention which looked more like a kidnapping.

For some time the relatives of Koush couldn’t understand where he was taken. In the regional police department they said he was in a prison in Brest, in the prison they denied such information.

Already on 4 September Koush was faced with an accusation of committing a crime according to the past 2 of the article 371-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (organization of illegal migration). The main evidence was the testimony of the Indians.

The Belarus’ special services know Koush for his activities in the sphere of protest actions. In particular, he was detained as a participant of an action of solidarity with political prisoners, and in December 2010 he was an observer at the presidential elections. Apart from that at the UN’s session the appeal of his wife is being considered.

“I, Maninder Singh, a citizen of India, was detained in Belarus at the border with Poland at night on 15 May by Belarusian border guards while attempting to cross the border. For two months I was kept in prison, being beaten and deprived of food. They showed me pictures of people unknown to me and demanded to say that they had helped me. On 6 July we were taken on a bus to recognize an unknown house. One of the policemen lifted my hand and made me point at the unknown house, I confirm that I slandered against the people I didn’t know as I was exhausted with tortures and hunger and wanted to return home”.
