Political prisoner Vaskovich thrown into punishment cell again

A lawyer of Yauheny Vaskovich was told that the political prisoner had again been transferred to a punishment cell in the Mahilou penal colony for seven days.

The reason for this disciplinary sanction is known, bchd.info reports.

Yauheny Vaskovich is expected to be released from the punishment cell in three days.

“The prison administration apparently have no plans to stop repression against the political prisoner due to his refusal to apply for a pardon,” BCD executive secretary Dzyanis Sadouski noted.

Yauheny Vaskovich, a journalist of Bobruiski Kuryer newspaper, was sentenced to 7 years in prison in 2011 on accusations of setting fire to the KGB office in Babruisk. Pavel Syramolatau and Artyom Prakapenka were given 7-year sentence in the same case. Pavel Syramolatau was pardoned in late September and released.
