Lyubou Kavalyova to continue struggle against death penalty

She has informed about that all those who had supported her petitions and signed them.

“Dear friends,

Thank you ever so much for your important and serious support of my campaign, which had been started by me to save my son, Uladzislau Kavalyou, and his friend Dzmitry Kanavalau, from death penalty in Belarus.

However, as you already know, in one of the days between March 11 and 16 Uladzislau Kavalyou and Dzmitry Kanavalau were shot… I am not sure when it happened, as according to the Belarusian laws, the date and time of the execution is not announced, the bodies of the executed are not given to relatives, and their burial places are kept secret. I still cannot believe that Uladzislau is no more.

It is a horror, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone…

In the framework of my campaign at change.org, together we have achieved much: the European Parliament and the Council of Europe have thrown their weight behind my son and his friend, the United Nations Human Rights Committee started its consideration of the case and even addressed the Belarusian authorities with a request not to execute the guys until the investigation is underway. That is why I am set to continue this struggle, and I am asking you not to give up as well. I have updated the petition and created a page on Facebook. I hope that you will remain participants of this campaign.

Thank you once again for your support. I meant a lot for me and for Uladzislau. I told him how many people from all corners of the world are supporting him. I know that at that moment and amid that nightmare he was glad about that.

Thank you very much once again,

Lyubou Kavalyova,”
