Makei reforms propaganda

Creation of two media holdings is planned in Belarus.

It has been said by the head of the presidential administration of Belarus Uladzimir Makei, when he addressed the plenary session of the Seventh Belarusian International Media Forum “Partnership for the sake of the future: Models of a New Epoch”, Interfax-Zapad reports.

“Now we are standing on the threshold of holding a large-scale reform of the media market,” U. Makei stated.

As said by him, consolidation of potentials and concentration of efforts in the work of printed mass media would allow them to work effectively amid the current political and economic conditions. U. Makei clarified that at the moment the work on setting up enlarged media structures, which are to be organized on the base of the leading country’s printed mass media, is underway.

“Instead of individual editorial boards the segment will be occupied by two media holding companies. One will focus on political and society matters, the other one will pay more attention to cultural matters,” he said. The division will concentrate the creative potential, optimizing economic activities. According to Makei, “Reforming should result in a quality modern information product for printed mass media and the Internet.”
