Alinevich thrown into punishment cell for two weeks

Anarchist Ihar Alinevich “is inclined to violent behaviour and is likely to escape”, the administration of the penal colony in Navapolatsk thinks.

Ihar said it to his mother Valyantina Alinevich in a phone conversation on July 14. It was his third telephone call in the last 12 months.

“I talked to Ihar on the phone, Taking into account it was  his third call during the year, it was a pleasant surprise. He was proposed to apply for a pardon two weeks ago. He refused to do so and they threw him into a punishment cell for two weeks. He was released from the cell yesterday. He said he was classified as an 'escape risk inmate who is inclined to violent behaviour'. My God! What else can they invent for our children?” Valyantina Alinevich says.

On May 27, 2011, Judge of the Zavadski district court of Minks Zhanna Khvainitskaya sentenced Ihar Alinevich to 8 years in a medium security penal colony. He serves his term in penal colony No. 10 I n Navapolatsk. Human rights activists regard him, Mikalai Dzyadok and Alyaksandr Frantskevich as political prisoners.

Ihar Alinevich became an uncle recently. His sister, who just returned from a maternity hospital with a baby, talked to the political prisoner on the phone. “So he heard three of us; me, his sister and the baby,” Valyantina Alinevich told Belorusski Partizan.
