Lukashenka confessed: The Air Defence missed a Swedish aircraft

Lukashenka confirms the fact of illegal invasion into the airspace of Belarus by the light airplane.

Military officials, who didn’t prevent it, have been punished, said the dictator.

"How to explain the provocation with the light airplane, which not only crossed the border, but also invaded the territory of the Republic of Belarus unpunished? Primarily,  this is a question of safety of our citizens", - said Aliaxandar Lukashenka on Thursday at a meeting on  status of bringing the armed forces and State Border Committee in correspondence with modern requirements, writes "Interfax".

Moreover, Lukashenka noted: "this plane was discovered in time, but why it wasn’t stopped?". "Who has been spared? Is it a bungling of specific persons or an error in the security system of the state border in the air?", - asked Aliaxandar Lukashenka.

"However, I would like to honestly and frankly say to all who are interested in this issue and present here: men, we're all grown people, responsible ones must answer", - he said. "At your request I took my time before making a decision. You would like to investigate this case thoroughly. Today, as I see, it is investigated thoroughly, and those responsible for it should be punished", - emphasized Aliaxandar Lukashenka.

In this regard Lukashenka stated: "On Monday I will make a decision, which will include changes in the personnel".

Recall, on July 4 website The Local reported that the Swedish aircraft crossed the Belarusian-Lithuanian border undetected, and scattered teddy bears over the Minsk with slogans of support of freedom of speech. Later it became known that this was a PR-action of the agency Studio Total. The purpose of the action was to draw attention to issues of human rights in Belarus.

Defense Ministry flatly denied the information that the plane could fly undetected through the territory of our country. And a video that is posted in the Internet by the Swedes, according to the military, is a product of a rough montage.

Anton Suryapin, 20-year-old photographer, 4th year student of the Institute of Journalism of BSU was the first who posted photos of “teddybear airdrop” on his website bnp.by. He was arrested on the morning of July 13 after a search of his apartment. The same evening a KGB investigator told the mother of Suryapin that the young man suspected of complicity of the illegal border crossing. Photojournalist faces up to seven years in prison.

Sergei Basharimov, realtor who rented an apartment to the Swedes, was detained and taken into custody in the KGB detention center on July 7, 2012.  On July 17 Basharimov was charged with assistance in the illegal border crossing.
