Finnish Santa Claus Joulupukki to visit Belarus

The Finnish Santa Claus Joulupukki will visit Belarus to attend the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the Residence of the Belarusian Father Frost in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.

BelTA has learnt it from the tourism department of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park.

The celebrations will be held on 13-15 December.

The Finnish Santa Claus confirmed his participation in the celebrations. All-Russia Father Frost from Veliky Ustyug is also ready to set off for Belarus. Besides, the Belarusian wizard expects some other guests: the Father Frost of the Cossacks of the world, the Tatarian Father Frost Kysh Babai, the Karelian Pakkaine and the Yakut Chyshaan. The old witch Baba Yaga from the village of Kukoboi, bogatyr Ilya Muromets, princess Vasilisa the Wise, Ivan Tsarevich, the Water Tsar, and Glinyshek (Clay Boy) have been also invited to attend the event.

The first day of the celebrations will feature the opening ceremony of Mother Winter’s working shop and the Ice museum. The guests will meet with the Father Frost, his granddaughter Snegurochka, and other fairytale characters. The anniversary of the residence coincides with the 150th anniversary of Europe’s highest New Year tree that grows on the premises of the residence. The green beauty is more than 40 meters high.

The Belarusian Father Frost will be receiving congratulations on 15 December. The program of the celebrations will feature theatrical performances and award ceremonies of the winners of fairytale competitions and the best Christmas present contest. The celebrations will conclude with the concert program Jubilee Frosty Fairytale.

The guests will be invited to visit the Town of Craftsmen and taste various dishes of the national cuisine. More than 500 actors will be involved in the celebrations.

The Residence of the Belarusian Santa Claus in Belovezhskaya Pushcha opened on 16 December 2003 and is now the most popular part of the park. Since its opening, around one million people have visited the residence. It occupies the total area of 15 hectares. The Residence features Twelve Month’s meadow, the Treasury, the Magic Mill and other fairytale facilities.
