Members of 13th Supreme Council against privatisation initiated by officials

Members of the last legitimate Belarusian parliament have met in Minsk.

Charter97.org learnt it from chairman of the United Civil Party (UCP) Anatol Lyabedzka.

“Eighteen members of the Supreme Council of the 13th Convocation took part in the event. They had a discussion and adopted the document titled 'Nomenclature Privatisation is Threat to Economic Sovereignty of Belarus'. This is a declaration saying that the power in Belarus is illegitimate and warning that results of the arbitrary illegal privatisation will be reviewed in future by a democratically elected parliament,” the politician noted.

He stressed that the Supreme Council of the 13th Convocation made an effort to protect the economic sovereignty and rights of millions of people of Belarus.

The document was signed by Syarhei Kalyakin, Stanislau Bahdankevich, Alyaksandr Dabravolski, Lyudmila Hraznova and others. About 15 council members, who didn't come to the meeting, and public figures are expected to join the declaration. The declaration will later be available for everyone to sign. This was only the beginning,” Anatol Lyabedzka said.
