Zmitser Bandarenka: This is another initiative of regime "bleachers"

Political activity in Belarus can be carried out only with the consent of the authorities.

A coordinator of the civil campaign European Belarus spoke to charter97.org about a recent initiative of the Movement for Freedom, the civil campaign Tell the Truth and the BPF Party that was announced in Minsk today.

“I don't trust the leaders of these organisations and their initiative. In my view, political activity in Belarus is possible today only with the consent of the authorities. Opponents of the dictator are banned from speaking and acting. They are being repressed, arrested, threatened, expelled from universities, fired from work, banned from travelling abroad, as it happened to, for example, Viktar Ivashkevich. Even leaving you home may become a crime.

We may say that Milinkevich, Niakliaeu and Yanukevich form the 'constructive opposition' to Lukashenka. During their foreign trips, they ask western institutions to start a 'dialogue' with the dictator and grant new loans to him.  They are called regime bleachers on the internet,” Zmitser Bandarenka says.

It should be reminded that the Movement for Freedom, the BPF party and civil campaign Tell the Truth have launched the campaign “Public Referendum”. Representatives of the three organisations said at a press conference they had agreed on long-term cooperation. According to Uladzimir Niakliaeu, the cooperation will last for at least three election campaigns  - local, presidential and parliamentary “elections”.
