People living “beyond means” haunt Tax Ministry's mind

The Ministry of Taxes thinks the tax bodies must have the right to obtain additional information about personal incomes.

This statement was made today by minister of taxes Uladzimir Paluyan during a briefing, BelTA news agency reports.

The minister noted that tax bodies check the people if they buy expensive property – cars, real estate, land – having no official sources of income.

More than 40,000 people were checked in 2012. The state budget received additional 20.5 billion rubles. Such people already paid more than 20 billion rubles to the budget this year.

“To raise effectiveness of this work the Ministry initiated amendments to the Taxation Code giving tax bodies the right to obtain additional information about personal incomes that subject to bank secrecy,” Uladzimir Paluyan said.

It was reported earlier that the country's banks will be obliged to provide tax bodies with the information about loans and deposit interests of individuals. The relative initiative was proposed in the draft law on amendments to the Tax Code.
