Baumgartner left in custody

Belarusian court has kept Uralkali’s director general in custody.

The court of Minsk’s Partizan district did not satisfy the complaint of the counsels about Uralkali’s director general Vladislav Baumgartner’s measure of restraint.

Interfax learnt about that from a counsel Dzmitry Harachka.

“Our complaint was not satisfied by the court, we will appeal against the decision to Minsk city court”, - the counsel told journalists.

We would remind that Baumgartner was detained at Minsk airport on 26 August after having met Belarus’ Prime Minister Mikhail Miasnikovich. Belarus’ Investigatory Committee has brought charges against him according to part 3 of the article 424 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (power abuse). The article provided for a punishment of up to 10 years in prison and the sequestration of property. After the measure of restraint was determined he has been put in KGB jail.
