Kremlin says what Putin and Poroshenko talked about

The Kremlin confirms that president of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation.

It, however, says the information about alleged threats from the Russian side is “fiction”, liga.net reports.

“Presidents Putin and Poroshenko really had a telephone conversation at the initiative of the Ukrainian party,” the Russian president's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“They talked about the bilateral relations and the situation in Ukraine's southeast,” he added. “Various reports from a number of media, first of all Ukrainian, about the content of the conversation are fiction and have nothing do with the reality,” Peskov stressed.

Information about a phone conversation between Poroshenko and Putin appeared on the evening of November 26. The media reported, citing a source in the Ukrainian president's administration, that Putin demanded Poroshenko should recognise DNR and LNR and refuse from joining NATO and the EU. Putin was reported to threaten to “launch an offensive”.

Poroshenko's spokesperson Irina Friz denied the reports today. “The reports of the media are as false as the allegation that any threats were made to the sovereign state. I have been working with Petro Poroshenko for more than 10 years and can confirm that he would never allow anyone to speak to him in an aggressive non-constructive tone and so on,” Friz said.

The official websites of the presidents of Ukraine and Russia haven't published details of the conversation.
