Komorowski: Sales of armaments to Ukraine could not be excluded

Poland’s president has stated that his country does not supply arms to Ukraine, as Kyiv does not really have enough money to pay for that.

Bronisław Komorowski said so in an interview to a TV channel TVN24. As said by him, deliveries of weapons to Ukraine by Poland are not excluded, as it would mean voluntary denial to use instrments to influence the situation which had shaped in Donbas, European Truth informs.

“Now we do not sell weapons to Ukraine, as they do not really have much to buy it for. However it would be a mistake to exclude such an option, as it would mean to lose leverage to influence the situation,” he said.

At the same time, as said by him, for the moment the US and other countries are just making statements about possible deliveries of weapons, but doing nothing in practice. “As it is hard to imagine a military solution to this conflict. Ukraine has little chances in military activities, however it has a right to defend itself,” the president stressed.

Concerning non-involvement of Poland in resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, Komorowski stated that he does not want to blame his Ukrainian counterpart, who had chosen Germany and France, as these are the countries “decisive for the EU policy.” As said by him, Poland had already played its “crucial role”, when it was the only advocate of the European choice of Ukraine in Europe. “Today we must be proud that we have managed to persuade other European countries to send a mission to Ukraine,” he underlined.
