A visit is planned in the schedule of the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations on the official website of the European Commission.
The visit of Johannes Khan is planned for April 16-17. It is worth noting the day before it the politician will meet with Belarusian human rights activist Ales Beliatski, Nasha Niva reports.
The press service of the European Commission in Minsk confirmed the information. However, they did not manage to inform about the schedule of meetings.
According to his earlier visits, he may hold meeting with Aliaksandr Lukashenka, Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei and representatives of the opposition and civil society.
The last time the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations visited Belarus in 2010. His predecessor Štefan Füle twice came to the talks in Minsk.
After dispersion of postelection protests such contacts were frozen. As we can see, now a new stage of relations starts.
Johannes Hahn took office on November 1, 2014. He is 57 years old, and a member of the conservative Austrian People's Party. He previously served as European Commissioner for Regional Policy.
