Lukashenka – Press Freedom Enemy №2 In The World

Reporters without Borders has published a new list of press freedom predators.

On Wednesday of November 2, Reporters without Borders published a new list of politicians and organizations, which this human rights organization considers the main enemies of press freedom. The list includes 35 heads of states and governments, political and criminal groups such as "Islamic State", the Yemeni Huthis, Islamic group in Bangladesh which is close to the "Al-Qaeda", Afghan talibs and the Mexican drug cartel "Los Zetas."

The listed specific government officials include many familiar faces, which "Reporters Without Borders" rank as enemies of press freedom from year to year. Among them are, for example, presidents of Eritrea, Sudan, Burundi, Gambia, Syria and Cuba, leaders of China and North Korea, Russia and also the leaders of several former USSR countries - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

Lukashenka

The ruler of Belarus Lukashenka has been in this infamous ranking since 1994.

After the 2010 presidential elections in Belarus the journalists Iryna Khalip, Natallia Radzina and Aliaksandr Atroschankau were arrested and criminal charges were brought against them.

The press freedom situation has not improved even after the "elections" in 2015. The editors office of the largest independent information resource charter97.org is forced to be outside Belarus.

Freelance journalist can not receive accreditation and are prosecuted by the judiciary. The Ministry of Information has expanded its control over the network of distribution of printed media and the internet, and also banned the software that can be used to bypass the online censorship.
