Regional Activists Detained On Their Way To Minsk March

Today, several hundred people came to the March of the Disgruntled Belarusians 2.0.

In the regions, police officers detained some activists who were going to Minsk to the March of Disgruntled Belarusians 2.0.

In particular, in the morning of October 21, Aliaksandr Abramovich, the chairman of the Minsk regional organization of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party, was detained in Maladzechna. He was going to take part in the protest rally in Minsk, the HRC Viasna reports.

The police officers, who detained Abramovich, informed him that he had "violated the traffic rules" – he had crossed the road in a wrong place. Abramovich was taken to Maladzechna psychoneurological hospital to check if he was in a "state of intoxication".

Human rights defenders clarified information from social networks about the detention of Henadz Faryna, a member of the United Civil Party from Maladzechna. He is also at the police department at the moment. There is a possibility that Volha Lagvinovich, the activist of the Maladzechna organization of the Belarusian Popular Front Party, has also been detained. It has been impossible to get in touch with her since morning.

Besides, it became known that in the morning of October 21, Ryhor Hryk, a REP trade union activist, was detained in Baranavichy. He was detained on the platform at the station before boarding the train, as he was going to Minsk. He was detained by police officers in civilian clothes.

The March of the Disgruntled Belarusians 2.0 was initiated by the Belarusian National Congress. The rally organizers had informed the Minsk City Executive Committee about its conduct.
