Minister Zayats: Lukashenka Ordered To Punish For Poor Flax Harvesting

Up tp three thousand people participated in the “flax mobilization” in Homel region.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food told that Lukashenka ordered to find and punish those guilty of untimely flax harvesting in Homel region. Leanid Zayats informed this during a press-conference, tut.by writes.

“Our agro-industrial complex is located in the area of risk farming — the double rainfall norm in October. The flax seasoning was very bad indeed. However, the flax was harvested in time at the 97% of the territory,” — the Minister informed.

"In Homel region, the local authorities made a mistake, it was necessary to harvest the flax earlier and without resorting to the help of the population. The president reacted very sharply to the situation, demanded to punish the guilty and pass the materials to the prosecutor's office," — the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food said.

Important to note, in Homel region, district executive committees, a number of enterprises and educational institutions received letters with a plea for the assistance in harvesting flax in several districts of the region. A day later, columns of buses with thousands of helpers were sent to Karma, Rahachou, Buda-Kashaliova and Chachersk districts from all over the region.

In total, 4800 hectares of flax were sown in Homel region, and the whole region had to cover a little more than a thousand hectares. Every day, up to three thousand people took part in the harvesting for several days.
