Mechanic from Chachersk Artsiom Kavaliou sent a complaint to the UN Human Rights Committee. The young man accuses the Belarusian authorities of limiting the right to peaceful assembly, Radio Racyja reports.

In early 2017, Artsiom Kavaliou was brought to administrative responsibility for participating in the action against the scandalous decree on “social parasites” in Homel, where he hoisted a white-red-white flag.

— I did not touch them, let's start with this, they came to me from the city executive committee, they said, I had to pay money for some incomprehensible tax on “social parasites”. Although everyone here realizes who the parasites are and how many of them are there. For example, how many internal forces we have. I came to the rally and took a white-red-white flag with me, to make sure that I was marching under a clean flag,” — Artsiom Kavaliou says.

The patriot spent 10 days in the detention center for participating in the protest action on February 19. Human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka accidentally found out about him and organized the assistance of a lawyer, and then helped to appeal the unlawful arrest in the Belarusian courts.
