Minskers On Oil And Gas Conflict With Russia: "Russia Is Horde, We Are Europe"

Belarusian authorities owe 550 million dollars to Moscow for the supply of Russian gas.

Belsat journalists interviewed Minskers about the energy dispute between Russia and Belarus.

"Someone wants to pinch someone and the whole nation suffers," – a Minsk dweller believes.

"Russia has always been thinking that everybody owes it something," – a young man says.

"Russia has always been a Horde and remains a Horde. While we are Europe. Which EurAsEC? It is its own problem. Why do we need these concessions? We are poor cousins or what? " – a woman says with outrage.

We remind that the oil and gas conflict between Russia and Belarus started, when due to the global drop in energy prices Minsk called the fair price of 73 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters for the gas supplied by Russia to Belarus. Russia has been insisting on the observance of the current contract, which is valid for the period of 2015-2016 years. Now the price of gas for Belarus is 132 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters.

The reduction of oil supplies to Belarus is also linked with the oil issue. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich announced that Russia had decided to cut oil deliveries to Belarus because of the underpayment for gas supplies. He also said that the gas conflict between Russia and Belarus might be fixed through the courts. According to the recent data, the debt of Minsk to Moscow for the supply of Russian gas was $ 550 million.
