Belarusians Massively Boycott Tax On "Parasitism"

The attempt slip the hand into citizens’ pocket ended in disappointment.

Tax authorities have sent around 470 thousand notifications on payment of the tax on parasitism.

At that only 44.5 thousand people, about one in ten, have paid the fee. As of 7 February, parasites boosted the coffers by 13.4 million rubles, the Ministry of Taxation website informs.

The tax authorities reminded that the fee is to be paid until 20 February. Those who believe that they have been ranked among parasites by mistake, can "submit documents and (or) an explanation, indicating that they have no obligation to pay the tax."

We remind that the authorities were to send "chain letters" until 20 January.

In addition, those who have received notifications on payment of the tax on parasitism, may address to the local "council of deputies" or the executive committee with an application to discharge them of paying the tax for 2015 because of the difficult situation, the tax authorities specify.

– Difficult life situations are understood to mean an objective circumstance (a set of circumstances), which does not depend on the citizen and which cannot be subdued by means of the existing capacity, – the tax authorities explain.

Earlier, authorities expected that about 400 thousand Belarusians would be put under the decree on parasitism.

We remind that the March of angry Belarusians, demanding the abolition of the decree on "social parasites", is to begin at 18-00 on February 17 on Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.
