Viachaslau Siuchyk: After Serving Days In Jail I Realized That My Hunger Strike Was Justified

The leader of the movement "Razam" protested against the conditions of detention in prison.

Viachaslau Siuchyk was released. Relatives and associates greeted the leader of the solidarity movement "Razam" near the prison in Akrestsin Street in Minsk, Belsat reports.

The politician was detained on May 3, more precisely – unknown people in civilian clothes kidnapped him when he was coming back to Minsk after a protest in Barysau. Viachaslau Siuchyk was on hunger strike all 15 days that he spent in prison, protesting this way against the conditions in prison. A lawyer has never been allowed to come to the politician during all those 15 days. Viachaslau Siuchyk – in the "Goriachy Kommentary" program ("Hot Comment").

"During those 15 days I was convinced that I had done absolutely right having declared a hunger strike. I saw that they treated me badly not only because I was a representative of the opposition, but also because I was a Belarusain," – Viachaslau Siuchyk said.
