Lithuania Delivered Protest Note To Belarus

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded to explain the violation of airspace by the Belarusian aircraft.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a note of protest to Belarus in connection with the violation of airspace on Thursday and demanded to give explanations regarding this incident, Interfax reports.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania demanded from Belarus to offer explanations regarding this incident as soon as possible and called for all the necessary measures to be taken to ensure that such cases do not happen again in future," the Foreign Ministry press release says.

The note was presented to interim attorney for affairs of Belarus in Lithuania Liudzmila Tatarynovich, since the ambassador of the republic is away from the office.

According to reports, in the afternoon on Wednesday, Lithuania’s airspace was violated by a Belarusian civil aircraft AN-2.
