Lukashenka Intends To Keep "Sorting Potatoes" Manually
CARICATURE: SIARHEI YOLKIN

The dictator's last orders remind a long-known anecdote.

Despite the fact that the joke about potatoes, which cannot be sorted without the ruler, is an old one, Lukashenka still does not intend to give up "manual management" of both the economy and the country as a whole.

On June 23, the dictator said at the meeting with the leadership of his administration, that there were a lot of issues requiring decisions at the level of the head of state, Lukashenka's press service reported.

"We need to plan them for consideration, despite my busy schedule. It is impossible to delay the decisions on these matters," – he stressed.

So, in his words, the decision on "liberating the entrepreneurial initiative", which has already been considered by the government, will be made precisely at the ruler’s level. "We should hold a meeting at the presidential level and take an appropriate decision," – Lukashenka said.

He also said that it would be necessary to set the record straight in the sphere of education in August and determine the terms in which the remaining problems will be solved, including the publishing of new textbooks.

The dictator believes that there are quite a few issues in agriculture as well, but this topic is going to be considered in detail after the harvesting campaign. In addition, the meeting discussed the state of affairs in housing and communal services. And these issues cannot be solved by the officials independently, without Lukashenka's "manual intervention".
