Mahilyou Activist: We Are Heard Only in the Square

On July 3 we must stand at Kastrychnitskaya Square, because we must protect our country from occupation from the east.

Raman Mishchenka, a Mahilyou activist of the Belarusian National Congress, said this in comments for bnknews.org.

- This spring our people showed their ability to defend themselves. If human rights are violated, Belarusians will defend them in the Square. The government understood this and suspended Decree No. 3, and this is small, but still a victory.

This spring everyone got that only one person was ready to head popular protests. This is Mikalai Viktaravich Statkevich. He is able to lead our country out of the morass Lukashenka has driven us into.

The authority will listen to us only in the Square. Therefore, it is impossible to reduce pressure on the authorities and we need to take peaceful protest actions until the overwhelming victory. I do not see other options at the moment, Raman Mishchenka says.

The Mahilyou activist is convinced that the military exercises West-2017 with Russia are one of the threats to the independence of Belarus and calls on to protest against them on July 3:

- On July 3 we must stand at Kastrychnitskaya Square, because we must protect our country from occupation from the east. God forbid that we are embroiled in the war with Ukraine or NATO. Do we need it? No! It's enough!

Raman Mishchenka stressed that only solidarity, unity and mutual support could lead us to the victory:

- On July 3 we must also express solidarity with political prisoners who are now suffering for the people. We must demand their early release. This is possible through pressure on the authorities both in Belarus and abroad.

So far, socio-economic issues remain unresolved - Decree No. 3, rising prices for utilities, the retirement age increase and other anti-popular laws and decrees are invented by the current illegitimate authority.
