Young Paratrooper Dies Of Pneumonia In Brest

The army conscript was mobilized to Brest from Hrodna.

On June 30, a conscript soldier of the 38th guards assault airborne brigade Aliaksei Apiakun died in hospital. A reader informed this via tut.by hotline.

18-year-old Aliaksei arrived to Brest from Hrodna. He was serving in the 38th brigade. According to non-official information, he had fever not long before the tragedy. He was hospitalized on June 30. Despite all the efforts of the medical staff, they couldn’t save the guy. He died in hospital on the same day.

— He was so eager to serve in the army. It was his dream, — Aliaksei’s relative informed. — He longed for this so much, he called us every weekend. According to him, everything was fine, he was very contended. He didn’t even try to enter any educational establishment after school — he wanted to be a paratrooper. He wanted to Minsk, of course, but he happened to be sent to Brest.

According to the interlocutor, her brother regularly called their parents, and never complained about any health issues:

— Last Sunday (it was June 25) he called and said it was a very hot day. They ran and the commanders allowed them to have a swim in cold water.

The press-center of the Ministry of Defense confirmed the fact of a young man’s death. The preliminary cause of death was pneumonia.

— The administration of the Investigatory Committee in Brest region is carrying out a check upon this fact, — Spokesman for the chief administration of the ideological work of the Ministry of Defense Uladzimir Makarau said, having added that the military institution brought sincere condolenses to the family and close people of the deceased.
